Durham Lead Shopkeep / Lead Retail Sales Associate

The ZEN Succulent is a neighborhood plant shop full of unique greenery and handcrafted gifts from emerging makers. We feature modern terrariums, workshops, and a DIY terrarium bar. At The ZEN Succulent, you'll be a part of a small team of hard-working, friendly people with a passion for plants, modern home decor, and intentional gifts. As the Durham Lead Shopkeep / Lead Retail Sales Associate, you are responsible for upholding our brand's customer experience by providing plant knowledge & recommendations, assisting customers with our DIY Terrarium Bar & potting plants, preparing the shop for the weekend, keeping up with inventory and restocking shelves with merchandise, watering and pruning plants to keep them healthy and beautiful, as well as assisting with plant styling and providing feedback for our customers in order to reach our sales goals. 

Job

3 days / 19 hours a week, Wednesday - Friday 11 am - 7 pm on a permanent work schedule and additionally 1 to 2 weekends per month, working Saturday from 11-7 pm and Sunday from 12-5 pm. Friday - Sunday the storefront will be safely open to the public for limited storefront hours, where all other days have limited contact with customers through curbside pick up.

Compensation

$12.75 - $17 hours based on experience

Parking Covered

Since we opened this location in 2016, employee parking has been covered with an assigned surface lot pass for weekdays & weekends with deck & street parking free on weekends.

Basic Responsibilities

Opening and closing the storefront, having a flexible work schedule, watering & pruning plants, assisting customers with plant recommendations, customer sales & service, shop upkeep, facilitating our own terrarium workshops, keeping the cash wrap/office organized, processing in and ordering plant & maker inventory, restocking the DIY Terrarium Bar in real-time and for the weekend ahead, processing and shipping online orders, responding to emails, creating content for social media use on Instagram and Instagram stories, leading and organizing the monthly downtown Durham retail and restaurant First Friday event.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older with your own transportation to storefront location. Must have an appreciation/passion for plants,  friendly personality, warm, outgoing, and be intuitive with customer's needs. Must be organized, able to work shifts alone with little supervision, efficient, have strong communication skills, and preferably willing to model for in-store photoshoots (examples seen on our Instagram feed). Prior indoor plant knowledge & retail experience is a plus (but not required, and will be taught in the position). Also, easy access to downtown Durham (living in downtown Durham is a plus).

Durham Weekend Shopkeep / Seasonal Retail Sales Associate

At The ZEN Succulent you'll be a part of a small team of hard-working, friendly people with a passion for plants, modern home decor and intentional gifts. Durham Weekend Shopkeep / Seasonal Retail Sales Associate

At The ZEN Succulent you'll be a part of a small team of hard-working, friendly people with a passion for plants, modern home decor, and intentional gifts. As the  ZEN Succulent Greenery Delivery Driver you are responsible for delivering the weekly delivery orders to customers within Raleigh, Durham and surrounding areas within 15 miles of either of our downtown Durham and downtown Raleigh storefronts. Deliveries will be ready for pick at the beginning of your shift at our Raleigh location and have to be independently loaded into your vehicle to deliver along the preset route that is also provided ahead of your shift.

Job
1 - 2 days / 8 to 16 hours a week (either Thursday or Thursday & Friday depending on the number of weekly deliveries).

Accessing and closing the storefront, having a flexible work schedule, organizing deliveries within vehicle for easy access, making sure deliveries are accurate and delivered in a timely manner, delivery presentation, and professionalism, safe & contactless deliveries.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older with your own transportation for deliveries & have valid and up-to-date insurance on their vehicle. Vehicle must be smoke-free, clean, and have room to hold a large amount & variety of sizes of plants up to 4 feet tall at one time. Must have an appreciation/passion for plants, friendly personality, warm, outgoing, and be intuitive with customer's needs. Must be organized, efficient, and have strong communication skills. Also, easy access to downtown Raleigh (living in downtown Raleigh is a plus).
