The Venus Flytrap

Venus flytraps (species name: Dionaea muscipula) are easily one of the coolest carnivorous plants, with their jaw-like leaves that snap shut around their prey! They have gorgeous coloration as well, typically vivid green leaves in stark contrast with deep crimson.

Introducing Julie

You may have read some of her blogs or met her in the shop, but we want to officially introduce our newest member Julie Ragsdale! She has been with us since July 2016, and we are so grateful for her plant know-how.

Julie got her M.S. in Biology from Appalachian State University in 2016. She focused on plant sciences throughout her academic career and is particularly interested in plant-insect interactions.

Not just a scientist, Julie is also an artist, animal-lover, and coffee fiend.
