Private Workshop & Event Booking Policies

Each of our private workshops include the following:
Tips and tricks for maintaining your terrariums and indoor plants
A variety of North Carolina grown greenery in varying colors, heights, and textures.
High quality terrarium glassware (size depending on terrarium option chosen)
Terrarium ingredients (soil, sand, stones, charcoal)
Step-by-step printed guide to creating and caring for terrariums
Retail bag to effortlessly carry your living arrangement
Rental of all tools required for the course

Cost per workshop or event varies, and it is based on the minimum number of guests expected to attend. Pricing begins at $400, with a minimum of eight (8) guests.
A refundable deposit is required in order to confirm a specific date and room. The amount will vary according to the number of guests; we’ll let you know. If you are booking the entire shop for your event, an additional charge will be required. This deposit is due at when your booking is confirmed.
A non-refundable deposit of $75 per workshop or event is required. This deposit covers teaching and staffing the course, along with all setup & clean up. This deposit is due when your booking is confirmed, and is in addition to the refundable deposit.
Please keep in mind that, aside from the final count, each private workshop has a minimum number of guests required. Should the final count fall beneath the workshop’s guaranteed number, the difference (calculated as price per person) will be added as a room charge.

Scheduling may be done through our website, on our Private Workshop and Event Booking Form. Please no phone calls or emails.
Once you have filled out the Private Workshop and Event Booking Form, you will hear from a member of our team in 48 business hours or less. They will work with you to confirm the details for your party and pricing, and arrange for your deposit to be paid. Your booking is not confirmed until your deposit has been paid.
We ask that you email us no less than fourteen (14) days in advance of your event with the guaranteed final count so that our team can prepare appropriately.
Our private events are often scheduled several months in advance - we encourage you to book 2-3 months in advance.

Private Workshops and events can be scheduled seven days a week depending on availability.
If you are interested in scheduling our workshop spaces in during our normal retail hours, our storefront would remain open to the public. If scheduled on days we are closed (Mondays & Tuesdays) we would be closed to the public and available for workshops & events.

At the time of booking, we ask you to select a location option for your private event: our downtown Durham location, downtown Raleigh location, or we can bring The ZEN Succulent to you.
There is no charge to use either the Durham or Raleigh location for your private workshop or event. If you prefer to have us come to you, we would arrive 1 hour and 30 minutes prior to the course to set up, styling the work table with other lush greenery and when the course concludes, clean everything up for our hosts after the course is finished. A service charge of $100 is added for this option.

Once the Private Workshop or Event is confirmed for a specific date and time along with two separate invoices: $75 non-refundable deposit, total bill based on the number of guests paid no fewer than seven (7) days before the scheduled workshop.
If you would like to hold your full event at our storefront (4 hours of time) are booking the entire shop for your event closing it to the public, an additional charge of $275 on Mondays & Tuesdays and $500 on every other day of the week will be required. Full events will not be scheduled while open to the public. If you would like to schedule our full event within our storefront, please fill out the form.
A non-refundable deposit of $75 per workshop or event is required. This deposit covers teaching and staffing the course, along with all setup & clean up. This deposit is due at when your booking is confirmed - your workshop is not officially confirmed until the payment is submitted.
Invoices have to be paid in full seven (7) days before the scheduled workshop date. If the invoice is not paid in full within 7 days of the workshop, there will be a 5% service charge added to the total bill. Invoicing does not apply to university/college bookings.

Total number guests (past the minimum) must be confirmed at the time of invoicing the workshop. Once a total guest number is given by host, the host is responsible for paying the total invoice based on guest count. No refunds are given.
If fewer than booked guests attend (past the minimum), all remaining workshop materials will be individually packed up in kit form and given to the host at the conclusion of the workshop or terrariums made up by the instructor and given to host.
If you would like to book more guests than confirmed, please let us know as soon as possible so we can accommodate you if possible.
Please keep in mind that, aside from the final count, each private private workshop has a minimum number of guests required. Should the final count fall beneath the workshop’s guaranteed number of eight (8) -twelve (12) guests depending on the workshop, the difference (calculated as price per person) will be added as a room charge.

Due to limited seating, we request that you cancel no less than one week before a scheduled class. You must cancel by email to hello@theZenSucculent.com
If your cancellation is at least seven (7) days in advance of the class, you will receive a full refund. If your cancellation is less than five (5) in advance, you will receive a gift certificate to host a future private workshop that is good for one (1) year.
In the case of a weather emergency, all affected courses will be rescheduled for a later date within (one) month of the original workshop date at no additional charge to the customer.

You are welcome to serve food and beverages at your private workshop or event. Please note that we do not provide food, beverage, utensils or set-up, so this will need to be set up by you or a member of your party prior to your private workshop or event . We would provide table space for the catered food and beverages. Details can be arranged with us once your event is confirmed.

Please note that alcoholic beverages are permitted for parties where all guests are over age 21.
Group / private classes
