Plant Tip Tuesday: Decorating with Houseplants!!

Halloween is just around the corner, and that means it's time to start thinking about decorations! If you're looking for a way to add some spooky flair to your home without breaking the bank, consider using houseplants. You can even leave these decorations out all year. There are many different types of houseplants that can be used for Halloween decorations, but for this week's edition of From The Potting Shed, we'll be going over a few of our favorite plants to decorate with. 




                                     Some popular choices include:

Chrysanthemums: a classic fall flower, and they make beautiful houseplants. They come in a variety of colors, including red, orange, yellow, and white. Chrysanthemums need bright, indirect sunlight and should be watered when the top inch of soil is dry.

Snake plants: These plants have thick, fleshy leaves that can be easily arranged into spooky shapes. They're also very easy to care for and can tolerate low light conditions. Snake plants are a great choice for Halloween decorations because they are easy to care for, can tolerate different  light conditions, and have a spooky look. They are also relatively cheap, so buying a few of them will help you create a dramatic effect.

Bella palms also make great decoration.

 Philodendrons: are a popular houseplant because of their large, heart-shaped leaves. They are relatively easy to care for and can be grown in a variety of light conditions. Water your philodendron when the top inch of soil is dry, fertilize your philodendron every two weeks during the growing season, place your philodendron in a bright spot out of direct sunlight, mist your philodendron's leaves regularly to keep them clean and hydrated. Too scared of actual spider webs? Try using the leaves on this and other types of vining plants to give your home more of a spooky feel:)

Spider plants: That's right. We couldn't not put this one on our list. Spider plants are easy to care for and can be found at most garden centers. They have long, thin leaves that look like spider legs, hence the name (teehee) and make a great addition for anyone wanting to scare off those who just can't seem to shake that arachnophobia. 

ZZ Plants: come in a variety of colors, including green, black, and white. This makes them easy to match with any Halloween décor ZZ plants have a dark, mysterious appearance that is perfect for Halloween. They are also said to be good luck plants, which makes them a popular choice for people who want to add a touch of good luck to their Halloween decorations.

Whether you have all your decorations up and will save this post to come back to next year when you want incorporate pants in your decorating or if you have no clue where to start and go out to buy the plants on this list, decorating with lush greenery is always a good way to go.
