5 Reasons You Need A New Plant Right Now

While we know it’s possible to have too much of a good thing…it’s hard to truly believe the adage when it comes to plants. They just have so much magic to impart in our lives! We won’t ever encourage you to get more than you NEED…but…might we suggest a few reasons you could need just one more?

Maybe Just One More…5 Reasons You Need A New Plant

  1. Plants Increase your attention span. Really! A study published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology noted that plants have a positive impact on improving concentration. And a 2014 study found that enriching bare offices (looking at you, COVID home office/closet) with plants increased productivity by 15 percent.

  2. Plants boost empathy. People seem to be more divided than ever, and when there is disagreement in the air…empathy can never hurt. A study by the University of California, Berkley, found that more participants volunteered to support a relief fund when there were plants on the table where they were taking the questionnaire.

  3. Plants spark creativity. According to a study conducted by Texas A&M University, plants can “enhance the ability to come up with ideas” which we think is pretty cool. The next time you’re stumped on a creative project…mosey over to the nearest plant and see if a solution doesn’t present itself. Voila!

  4. Plants aid recovery. Everyone knows that if someone’s in the hospital, it’s customary to send them flowers. But is it just for aesthetics…or is there more going on? A study published in Science Daily revealed that patients with live plants in their rooms “required significantly less medication, recuperated more quickly, and demonstrated positive physiological responses, such as lower blood pressure and heart rate.”

  5. Plants encourage sleep. Rest is of paramount importance in our busy lives, and plants can help us catch more ZZZs by reducing cortisol levels. Jasmine, valerian, lavender, aloe vera, and snake plants (shop our snake plants here) are great for the bedroom.
