Join us for an evening learning the art of macrame,  Sunday, August 27th from 6-8pm.

For beginners and experienced alike, this course will cover macrame knotting techniques, how to make a plant hanger out of cotton macrame cord, tips for sourcing materials and on designing plant hangers for various pot sizes. You’ll leave with your creation, additional macrame cord, and all the knowledge you’ll need to recreate this project - this class is not to be missed!

Your ticket includes:

  • 2 Hours of instruction and hands - on studio time, in a small group setting (max. of 10 students).
  • Basic knowledge of macrame knotting methods.
  • Macrame cord, a wooden ring and wooden beads for crafting the plant hanger during course

Vanessa Hernandez of Ask The Trees will be joining us for a special spoon making course. Join us on Sunday, September 10from 5-8pm for an evening of spoon carving basics. 

For beginners and experienced alike, this course will cover techniques for safe knife handling, how to carve a spoon out from raw wood, tips on selecting & sourcing carving wood with additional education on maintaining wooden kitchen wares & sharpening carving knives.  You’ll leave with your newly carved creation, notepad & custom pencil, a blank hardwood block for your next carving session and all the knowledge you’ll need to recreate this project - this class is not to be missed!

  • 3 Hours of instruction and hands - on studio time, in a small group setting (max. of 10 students)

For beginners and experienced alike, this course will cover helpful tips on designing with dried & living materials,  proper building techniques, picking wreaths with favorite tricks for wiring succulents, , maintenance and displaying within any home or office environment.  You’ll leave with your creation, care instructions and all the knowledge you’ll need to recreate this project - this class is not to be missed!

All materials (plants, 14-inch wreath, dried flowers wreath making materials and succulents). Please note, if you have dried flowers that you’d like to use for this project, feel free to bring it with you!

You will be making a 14-inch wreath, able to wire 6-7 succulents on.

About the Instructor,Caitlin :

Caitlin is a modern calligrapher, custom wedding stationery designer, illustrated map artist and a calligraphy educator based in Apex, North Carolina. Her passion lies in helping others document their happiest moments and adventures in life in a whimsical and illustrative way.

With a degree in Graphic Design from Meredith College, Caitlin worked in the corporate world as a graphic designer for several years. It wasn’t until she started planning her own wedding that she discovered her passion for calligraphy and custom stationery design. Caitlin officially launched her business, Happy Tines, in the summer of 2016. She now utilizes her calligraphy and design skills by working with brides across the country to design whimsical and modern custom wedding invitations and custom illustrated maps.

Hannah Tremblay is a fiber arOst based out of eastern North Carolina. With a background in tapestry weaving, she expanded into and found a passion within classic hand embroidery.

Join local embroiderer modern weaver , Hannah Tremblay of Se Paz Studio for an evening of Botanical Embroidery on Sunday, June 25th from 5-7pm..

Come learn the basic embroidery stitches and make modern wall art in a peaceful, jungle settng. In this beginner—friendly class, you will learn a complete rundown on the timeless craft of hand stitched  embroidery including how to prep the hoop to transfering a pattern, thread selection and bacis of how to thread and anchor a needle and more. Your will leave with your creation, your own curated embroidery kit and all of the knowledge to recreate this again - this course is not to be missed!

Hannah Tremblay is a fiber arOst based out of eastern North Carolina. With a background in tapestry weaving, she expanded into and found a passion within classic hand embroidery.

She then opened her shop Se Paz Studio, which is Spanish for the phrase be peace - a phrase her late grandmother frequently lived upon.Hannah now creates and focuses on handmade embroidery pieces from thewilderness - simple, botanical, and natural.

For beginners and experienced alike, this course will cover helpful tips on plant selection, proper building techniques, picking the right container with favorite tricks for planting, maintenance and displaying within any home or office environment.  You’ll leave with your creation, care instructions and all the knowledge you’ll need to recreate this project - this class is not to be missed!

All materials (plants, glassware, terrarium ingredients and added toppings) will be provided for this class including access to our beautiful DIY Terrarium Bar. Please note, if you have a special memento that you’d like to use for this project, feel free to bring it with you!

Caitlin is a modern calligrapher, custom wedding stationery designer, illustrated map artist and a calligraphy educator based in Apex, North Carolina. Her passion lies in helping others document their happiest moments and adventures in life in a whimsical and illustrative way.

With a degree in Graphic Design from Meredith College, Caitlin worked in the corporate world as a graphic designer for several years. It wasn’t until she started planning her own wedding that she discovered her passion for calligraphy and custom stationery design. Caitlin officially launched her business, Happy Tines, in the summer of 2016. She now utilizes her calligraphy and design skills by working with brides across the country to design whimsical and modern custom wedding invitations and custom illustrated maps.

Join us for a special flower arranging workshop in the height of spring!  Durham designer, McCausland, will guide you in the basic tenants of floral design, from care to arranging, using flowers and greenery from your local grocer and your own backyard.  With her seventeen years of experience in retail and large scale event floral design, she will discuss several different techniques and styles to make a beautiful arrangement.
 

For all skill levels, ages 15 and up, this introductory course will include how to prepare and care for your fresh materials, where to place and how to stabilize them, and basic design schemes to compliment different containers.

Spoon Carving Workshop with Ask The Trees

Vanessa Hernandez of Ask The Trees will be joining us for a special spoon making course. Join us on Sunday, November 13th from 5-8pm for an evening of spoon carving basics. 

For beginners and experienced alike, this course will cover techniques for safe knife handling, how to carve a spoon out from raw wood, tips on selecting & sourcing carving wood with additional education on maintaining wooden kitchen wares & sharping carving knives.  You’ll leave with your newly carved creation, notepad & custom pencil, a blank hardwood block for your next carving session and all the knowledge you’ll need to recreate this project - this class is not to be missed!

Your ticket includes: 

  • 3 Hours of instruction and hands - on studio time, in a small group setting (max. of 10 students)
  • Basic knowledge of carving methods and tool use
  • A single hardwood spoon blank for carving during course, plus one additional spoon blank to take home
  • Rental of hook knife and straight knife for carving 
  • Tin of Handmade Wood Balm & Sandpaper for finishing 
  • Locally made notebook and custom Ask the Trees pencil for note taking during course and to take home

In this hands on signature class, Megan George of the ZEN Succulent will teach you how to create a succulent terrarium featuring North Carolina grown and modern pan glass vessel. 

For beginners and experienced alike, this course will cover helpful tips on plant selection, proper building techniques, picking the right container, maintenance and displaying within any environment.  You’ll leave with your creation, care instructions and all the knowledge you’ll need to recreate this project - this class is not to be missed!

All materials (plants, glassware, terrarium ingredients and added toppings) will be provided for this class.  Please note, if you have a special memento that you’d like to use for this project, feel free to bring it with you!

You will be making a 7 inch globe / fish bowl  terrarium , able to plant 4-5 succulents within.
